home movies
my parents came to portland for a week long visit. i took them on a week long trip of a week in the life of caryn. work, food, drink, friends, family. they just came along with me to all the stuff i do every week. i loved sharing that part of my life with them. since they are only here a week at a time they never get a sense of where and why my place is here. i hope they saw it and enjoyed it as much as i enjoyed sharing it with them.
please enjoy the quick video i made of an evening spent at the pollinger's new house. i hope this reaches all of you healthy, happy and peaceful.

Happy Halloween!
I hope everyone had a safe and happy halloween in your neck of the woods! This year was no different for the Grunwald's in Oregon - short! We were fortunate that it didn't pour on us, the weather was actually quite nice. Jae was Optimus Prime and Hannah was Hedwig (the owl from Harry Potter, also Jae's costume when he was 1.5).
The kids had a great time going from house to house but as usual, Jae was tired by about block 3 (He's just not a walker, plus his mask was starting to bother him). Hannah was a trooper and kept up with him until about block 2 and started getting tired (she almost fell asleep while I was carrying her, but all the excitement from the other kids distracted her). The kids still made out with a good stash of candy. We came back to hand out candy, but only got a handful of visitors, so now we've got a bucket of chocolate hanging around the house! This is not a good thing.
Hope everyone is doing well!!!

Bryan's first Halloween Party!
The hospital where we had the baby has this Mommy & Me group that they really encourage new moms to come to with their new babies I love this group!!! It has been so nice to be around other sleep deprived moms and listen to other peoples stories, tips, advice, etc. A nurse facilitates the group. It's a great support system. This week there was a Halloween Potluck.
Bryan Poirier - 8 weeks
Here are some pics of our little guy! Bryan is 8 weeks old now! We are starting to get a few smiles here and there. Sleeping is still a challenge for him. I hope we figure that out before I go back to work on Dec 1st. Eric and I love being parents....even with the lack of sleep. I will say that has been one of the hardest parts of this whole thing. I think it is right after childbirth for me. Benny loves his new friend. They crying does not bother him one bit.

Baby Poirier has arrived!
Baby Bryan William Poirier arrived on Tuesday, 9/1/09 at 10:32 PM. He weighed 7lbs 13 oz and is 20.5 inches long. He arrived three weeks early!!!! My water broke at work at 1:45 PM (fun times...NOT!)...checked into the hospital at 3:30 PM and found out around 7ish that the baby was breech and I would need to deliver by c-section. The hospital was packed that night with deliveries, in fact our entire stay the birthing center was running near or at full capacity. You could not tell by the service. The nurses were all great. The downside was I had to go through some bad (in my opinion) labor pains while I waited my turn for the OR. I guess I was their 4th c-section that night! I was wheeled in to the OR at 10:00PM. It was very scary for both me and Eric but we are glad it is all over and everyone is well and that we have the cutest baby boy ever!

MINI VACATION
We had a really nice weekend. Relaxing but not long enough. Two days in Tahoe are not enough.
Very Peaceful. We went with friends who have a very nice house. Pat and I went for a walk until we crossed path with a coyote. OK enough for me. Turned around and went back. Bears attacked about 10 PM. Lucky they were just after Garbage. Those smart bears figured out how to open the "Bear Box" "Smarter than the average bear".

The Baby Room in Progress
I had to get a picture of the daddy in action! His back was shot by the end of the day. I tried to blame it on age ;) but he says he has always had problems with his back.
This is the closet full of shoe's for our baby. Thanks to Bill, Patty & Jae. I will put them up until he can wear them but had to take a photo! There are quite a few Nike shoe's in there so I should say thank you to Aunt Barbara & Uncle Jake too!
Here is the closet with clothes! All washed and ready to go. Again, thank you to Bill, Patty & Jae! The color of the wall is some sort of tan and Eric painted the ceiling white.
We are not done yet. We think we are putting some type of molding at the top.

When we are done, the baby by far will have the best room and best furniture in the house! We do not even have a bedroom set and have done nothing to our bedroom walls since we moved in. LOL! That's ok though. :) Only the best for our little guy!
Oregon Father's Day
The Grunwald/Pollinger/Poirier families celebrated Father's Day yesterday, June 27th so we could all be together. Good times as always. The kids never let us down and always keep things moving for us! :) The women cooked and cleaned for the men since they did the same for us on Mother's Day.
Barb & Jake got dad this blanket called a Snuggie. He is always cold...I mean ALWAYS! If he had it his way the house would probably be kept at a toasty 80 degrees. So hopefully this will come in handy this summer when mother has the A/C on. :)
Eric got some yummy candy from Bill & Patty. The kids were hilarious. They sat there staring at him while he ate it. Eric was going to share but mommy said no. After seeing the cutest face ever, Eric was allowed to give Jae a small piece.
Uncle Jake and Jae playing a video game. Bill resting for a few. :)
Jae was pushing Hannah....then he said hmm...Hannah you push me. They took turns doing this for awhile. Very cute. However, it did not end cute. I recall tears from both parties and the toy having to be removed! LOL!

It was a wonderful Father's Day. I feel lucky to have such a great dad who has taught me and given me so much.
